Overview

Find Your Focus. Join an ADHD Research Study.

Researchers are conducting a clinical research study to evaluate an investigational study drug for adults with ADHD. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the drug’s safety, how well it is tolerated, how the body processes it, and its potential effects on attention.

About the Study

The goal of this research study is to gather scientific information. You may or may not benefit from participating in this study. Individual results cannot be guaranteed.

Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to receive one of three dose levels of the investigational study drug or a placebo (a pill that looks the same as the investigational drug but has no active ingredients).

This is a blinded study which means that neither participants nor the study team will know which study treatment has been assigned during the study.

Although this drug has been studied previously in healthy volunteers, researchers are still learning about its safety and whether it may benefit adults living with ADHD.

About the Study Drug

The investigational drug being evaluated in this study is called ORX142. It is being evaluated for adults living with ADHD.

ORX142 is designed to activate the orexin-2 receptor, which plays an important role in regulating wakefulness, attention, and cognitive engagement. Researchers hope to learn whether this investigational drug may influence attention while continuing to evaluate its safety and tolerability. Because this is a research study, it is not known whether the investigational study drug is effective in treating ADHD.

Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of three dose levels of the investigational drug or a placebo. A placebo looks like the study drug but contains no active ingredients. Random assignment helps researchers compare study results fairly. Neither you nor the study team will know which study treatment you receive during the study.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What is a Clinical Trial?

A clinical trial is a research study that evaluates new medications, devices, or treatment approaches to determine if they are safe and effective. Clinical trials help doctors and researchers develop better treatments for current and future patients. All studies follow strict safety guidelines and are carefully monitored.
Each clinical study has specific requirements for participants based on factors such as age, medical history, and current health status. The eligibility criteria in each study protocol are used to identify the volunteers best qualified to participate.
No. Study-related medications, lab tests, and medical visits are provided at no cost to you. Participating in a clinical trial should never require you to pay for study-related care.
Many studies provide compensation for your time and travel. Compensation amounts vary by study and will be fully explained before you decide to enroll.
Health insurance is not required for most clinical trials. All study-related care, procedures, and doctor visits are typically provided at no cost to you.
Participation is completely voluntary. You may choose to leave a clinical trial at any time, for any reason. Your decision will not affect your regular medical care or relationship with your doctor.
Each study has specific eligibility criteria. The best way to find out if you qualify is to complete our online eligibility form or speak directly with a member of our research team.
