Overview
This study is researching binge eating disorder (BED), a condition where a person has repeated episodes of eating large amounts of food in a short period of time and may feel a loss of control during these episodes. BED can affect both physical and emotional health.
The goal of the study is to learn whether the medication may become a new treatment option for adults living with binge eating disorder.
How Can I Tell If I am Binge Eating?
Binge eating episodes are usually characterized by three or more of the following:
- Eating much more rapidly than normal
- Eating until feeling uncomfortably full
- Eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry
- Eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much one is eating
- Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty afterwards

About the Study
Researchers are studying a medication to see if it may help reduce binge eating episodes in adults with binge eating disorder. The study will evaluate whether the medication is safe and whether it may help people better manage their symptoms.

Who Can Join
The study is looking for adults who:
Are 18-55 years old
Currently experience symptoms of Binge Eating Disorder (BED) including recurrent episodes of consuming excessive amounts of food accompanied by a sense of loss of control over the eating
Experience at least 2 binge eating episodes per week for the last 6 months
Have not participated in a weight loss program within the past 3 months

Use insulin
Have recently taken certain medications that affect mood, appetite, or the nervous system, such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, opioids, or stimulant medications
Take certain medications used for weight loss or diabetes
Take medications used to treat seizures, psychotic disorders, or mood disorders
Use certain over the counter or herbal supplements that may affect the study medication

Medication
Participants will take the study medication or placebo as directed
Health Monitoring
Study staff will monitor your health, symptoms, and eating patterns during visits and phone check-ins
Assessments
You may complete questionnaires or assessments about your symptoms and overall well-being during the study.
